Effective Immediately, Independence Township Hall, Senior Center, Fire Stations and DPW will remain closed to the public through April 13th,
per Governor Gretchen Whitmer's Executive Order, to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Township essential services will continue and Township employees will be available to answer phones or e-mails from our residents.  We are asking everyone to utilize the online services or e-mail.

Property Transfer Affidavits (PTA's) and Principle Residence Exemption Forms (PRE's) may be faxed (248-625-2585) or emailed in to and the originals mailed to Township Hall. Property record card information is available online or by calling into the office. We will email the information requested out to the public.

Due to the Governor’s Executive Order, effective March 24, 2020 through April 13, 2020, the Building Department will conduct inspections on an emergency basis only.  Inspections will not be done on an occupied home until further notice.  The Department will have limited staffing until April 13, 2020.  For Building Code related questions or emergency inspection requests, please call (248) 459-0825.  For Planning, Zoning & Code Enforcement questions, please call (248) 459-1649.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, licenses and permits obtained through the Clerk's office have been suspended until further notice.  We will not be accepting applications for:  Solicitors, Floating Retail Sales, Special Events, Right of Way Disruption, Solid Waste Hauler until further notice.

The May 5, 2020 Special Election for Waterford Schools (Precinct 12 voters only) has been cancelled.  Applications for absentee ballots should be discarded.

All programs, events, and classes in a Township facility and off-site have been suspended until further notice.

Spring Break Camp has been cancelled for the week of March 30.  All registered participants will receive a full refund.

All facility rentals have been suspended until further notice.

Parks will remain open, however playground equipment is closed per Oakland County Emergency Order.

All public gatherings and events at our Senior Community Center have been suspended until further notice. 
The Senior Community Center will continue with Meals on Wheels and transportation services. 
AARP Tax Preparation has been cancelled at the Senior Community Center.

Dog Licenses can be purchased through the mail and online at Oakland County Animal Control’s website.  Remember, dog licenses will not be delinquent until after June 1st
